“Inzaghi under pressure at Al-Hilal after stints at Inter and Lazio.”

Simone Inzaghi, one of the most sought-after coaches in world football, arrived in Saudi Arabia with high hopes and expectations. After winning two consecutive Champions League finals with Inter Milan and securing an impressive contract worth around 26 million euros per year, making him the second highest-paid coach in the world, just behind Diego Simeone, Inzaghi seemed destined to shine in his new adventure at Al-Hilal. However, reality quickly turned into a nightmare.

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the situation at Al-Hilal has deteriorated alarmingly. What started as a promising appointment for the Riyadh club is now crumbling. At the beginning of the season, the team dominated the Saudi League with a comfortable seven-point lead over their rivals, a clear indication that Inzaghi was adapting perfectly to his new environment. However, the arrival of January brought with it the signing of Karim Benzema, a move that Inzaghi had fervently advocated for.

Since then, the results have been alarming. Al-Hilal has managed only five draws in their last seven matches, causing them to drop to third place in the table, now four points behind leaders Al-Ahli, who boast stars like Franck Kessié and Merih Demiral in their squad, while Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr is also ahead in the standings. According to Arab media, the dissatisfaction from the club’s management is evident, and fans have begun to openly demand Inzaghi’s dismissal.

Removing a coach who receives such a high salary would represent a colossal financial commitment, but rumors indicate that this possibility cannot be dismissed. The situation is particularly painful for Inzaghi, who has already experienced a similar collapse in his first season at Inter, when his team, which was leading Serie A by seven points, was overtaken in the final months by Milan, under the guidance of Stefano Pioli. Now, he must reverse a similar deficit, facing the pressure of a rival like Al-Nassr, managed by Jorge Jesus.

The next two matches for Al-Hilal will be crucial for Inzaghi’s future. The team will face Al-Shabab, currently in 12th place in the table, before preparing for the round of 16 clash in the Asian Champions League against Al-Saad, managed by Roberto Mancini, a former colleague of Inzaghi in the Italian national team. Winning both matches could relieve some of the pressure on the coach, but any result below that will cause speculation about his future to rise alarmingly.

The situation is critical, and Inzaghi, who arrived as a savior, now faces one of the biggest challenges of his career. The pressure is mounting, and the uncertain future could define not only his tenure at Al-Hilal but also the legacy he will leave in a league that promised to be his new stage of glory.
