Manchester United has taken a decisive step in its search for reinforcements by announcing the signing of young Colombian prodigy Cristian Orozco, a childhood dream come true. The 18-year-old, who arrives from Fortaleza CEIF, developed his skills at the Rojo FC academy and made five appearances for the first team last season.
The deal, valued at around £750,000, was agreed upon last year, but Orozco waited until he turned 18 to make the move to England. The midfielder, who will initially join the club's academy, expressed his joy upon visiting the iconic Old Trafford stadium, revealing to ESPN Colombia: “I visited the city and everything was very beautiful. I got to see the stadium, the team's training center and, honestly, I am fulfilling a childhood dream. It was very pleasant.”
The player is aware of the challenges that lie ahead and emphasized the importance of learning English to adapt quickly to his new environment. “My expectation from now on is to learn a lot of English. I realized that it is very important, and I want to get there, learn, and adapt as quickly as possible. That is necessary to show my level and what I can offer,” Orozco stated.
Regarding his qualities, the young player highlighted his physical and technical strength, expressing confidence in his abilities: “I know that my strengths are my physicality and my technique. I have those qualities and, with the gift that God has given me, I don’t think it will be very difficult. But everything is about adaptation. I am very young and that is what I will have to do.”
The arrival of Orozco represents not only a promise for the future but also a strategic investment by Manchester United in his development. His integration into the club could open doors for new talents from South America, as the club seeks to turn around its fortunes in the Premier League.
