The historic victory of Wrexham over Manchester United by 1-0 in Helsinki demonstrated that the team is visibly evolving in pre-season. George Thomason, a defender for the Welsh side, participated in the first 45 minutes of the match, in which Sam Smith's goal secured the surprising triumph against the Red Devils.

This pre-season match, played shortly after the goalless draw against Wisla Krakow, highlighted the improvement in the team's physical condition and organization. Thomason, who is enjoying his first full summer at the club since joining last year, emphasized the increased speed and accuracy in the collective play. “I definitely felt fitter and more focused. In the first game, you're always trying to get your legs back into rhythm, especially after eight or nine weeks without competitive play,” he explained to the club's official media.

The player also underscored the defensive quality and ball control that Wrexham demonstrated during the match, which helped nullify the advances of their world-renowned opponent. “Without the ball, we were very organized, and in possession, we were much cleaner. Pre-season is about gaining rhythm and being sharp, but it's always great to measure ourselves against some of the best players in the country,” Thomason added.

This victory is a clear indicator of the team's progress and the positive impact of the summer preparation. For Thomason, both the collective and individual performances were very productive, reflecting Wrexham's ambition to continue growing and establishing itself in the competition. The display against Manchester United is undoubtedly a turning point that could boost the squad's confidence for the challenges ahead.
