Charlie Woods, the son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, finished in 28th place at the prestigious Team TaylorMade Invitational, a tournament held at the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida. The young golfer, who is one of the brightest prospects in youth golf and has already secured a spot on the Florida State University golf team, was unable to replicate last year’s victory and concluded the event with a total score of 4 over par.

On Sunday, the final day of competition, Charlie recorded a scorecard of 73 strokes, three over par, marked by two birdies, three bogeys, and one double bogey. Throughout the tournament, the athlete accumulated ten birdies and seven bogeys but was hampered by significant errors in each round, including a double bogey, a triple bogey, and another double bogey, which compromised his final performance.

This year’s winner was Luke Ringkamp from California, who shone with an impressive final round of 64 strokes, finishing the tournament with a total of 13 under par. Other highlights included Giuseppe Puebla from Royal Palm Beach, who finished in third place with 8 under par, Ryan Nana Tanke from Palm Beach Gardens in sixth place with 5 under par, and Jessy Huebner from Port St. Lucie, who placed seventh with 4 under par.

It should be noted that Charlie Woods entered this tournament as the defending champion, having won last year’s edition at Streamsong Resort’s Black Course in Bowling Green, Florida, with an impressive performance of 15 under par. This victory marked a turning point in his career, as prior to the win, he was ranked only 604th in the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) ranking and had no victories in AJGA tournaments. With this result, he climbed to 13th place in the national ranking, positioning himself as a rising star.

The Team TaylorMade Invitational is a relatively new competition, having been created in 2021. Since then, it has been held at iconic locations in Florida, such as the Jupiter Hills Club in Tequesta and The Country Club at Mirasol in Palm Beach Gardens. The tournament attracts the best young golfers from the United States, serving as a stage for future stars of professional golf.

The AJGA, the organization that oversees these types of events, was founded in the 1970s and is a nonprofit entity that promotes hundreds of high-level competitions for young golfers, both male and female. Its mission is to create a competitive environment for those with collegiate or professional ambitions, while also providing college coaches with a platform to evaluate potential recruits. Among its alumni are iconic names in world golf, such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Dustin Johnson.

Charlie Woods continues his journey in youth golf with great expectations, despite not being able to defend his title in Belleair. The young athlete remains steadfast on the path to establishing himself as a star in world golf, carrying on his father’s legacy and the hopes of a new generation.
