The victory of [Collin Morikawa](https://apitofinal.pt/modalidades/golf/rory-mcilroy-e-tommy-fleetwood-enfrentam-rival-da-ryder-cup-no-genesis-invitational/) at the 2026 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am was not only a milestone in his career but also an impressive display of skills that left his caddie, Mark Urbanek, in a state of admiration. Urbanek, who has been alongside American golf since last August, did not hesitate to express how “scary” it is to watch Morikawa perform on the course. During his appearance on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio, he shared his impressions of the golfer’s performance and the challenges he faces in guiding him on the greens.
“It’s honestly scary to watch,” Urbanek said. “When you have someone who is an elite ball-striker, like Collin is when he’s at his best, and you have a front-row seat, it’s hard to put that into words. Honestly, you feel like you’re playing a video game, and you better not mess up what you’re telling him, because it’s going to work. It’s going to do exactly what he says it’s going to do. So, you know, you have to be on your game all the time.”
Morikawa secured his first title in 28 months at this iconic event, starting the tournament with a round of 69, followed by an impressive 68 and a phenomenal 62. In the final round, he closed with a 67, ensuring a victory by a single stroke over Min Woo Lee and Sepp Straka. In a press conference after the match, Morikawa reflected on the significance of Pebble Beach in his career. “Growing up, you think about the majors and you have a separate list of golf courses that you just want to play when you turn professional,” he said. “I would say Pebble Beach is right at the top of that list. So much history, very iconic, as I said, and probably one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been in the world.”
Before his victory at Pebble Beach, Morikawa had a mixed performance in previous tournaments. He competed in the Sony Open in Hawaii, where he failed to make the cut, recording scores of 72 and 68. He then participated in the WM Phoenix Open, where he finished tied for 54th place, with rounds of 72, 69, 71, and 69. However, his resilience and the work with Urbanek seem to have paid off, culminating in a victory that undoubtedly marks a new chapter in his career.
The future looks promising for Collin Morikawa, who is now once again positioned as one of the top players to watch on the circuit. With the support of Urbanek and renewed confidence following this historic win, golf fans are eagerly anticipating the next steps of this talented athlete.
