The presence of Travis Kelce at the 2026 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am caused a real frenzy in the sports world. The revelation that the Kansas City Chiefs player would participate in the event resulted in explosive ticket demand, with over $60,000 in sales recorded in the first 12 hours after the announcement. Tournament director Steve John confirmed that interest surged, mainly due to speculation surrounding the presence of the famous singer Taylor Swift, who, despite being the subject of rumors that she might attend, ultimately did not show up.

“It was a busy day even without her,” commented Mackenzie Hughes, one of the participants, to the Associated Press. “With her, I think it would have been literally pandemonium.” In just a few hours, between 6:30 PM on Thursday and 6:30 AM on Friday, about $21,000 in tickets for the second round were sold, even before Kelce began his tee-off. Crowds quickly appeared, with over 1,000 fans positioned along the fairway, eager to see Kelce make his first shot.

Travis Kelce was not there just as an NFL star; he brought with him a contagious enthusiasm. On Thursday, he played at Spyglass Hill alongside Keith Mitchell, a professional from the PGA Tour, and former NFL quarterback, Alex Smith. Although he avoided interviews during the event, Hughes’ words revealed the impact his fame had on the tournament. “He himself said that things weren’t always like this. But now that they’re engaged, his life has changed a bit,” Hughes said, alluding to Kelce’s new phase.

As for on-course performance, Kelce and Mitchell finished tied for 35th place, with a total of 11 under par. However, the focus was much more on how Kelce behaved on the course than just the numbers. During a conversation with the Golf Channel, Mitchell described the experience of playing alongside the NFL star: “It’s humbling. He hits the ball much farther than I do.” Kelce, for his part, did not hesitate to express what draws him to golf: “It’s just the beauty of the course, to be honest. I know I’m not going to walk away from here with low scores. I’m just going to have fun.”

The Super Bowl champion did not fail to mention the importance of golf in his life. “It’s a way to escape reality. I stand there over the ball, hitting as much as I can, releasing some stress and enjoying the views,” said Kelce, who also took the time to praise Mitchell’s style of play, referring to his “swagger” and how he tried to match his teammate.

Recently, Kelce participated in the pro-am at the WM Phoenix Open, where he also showed comfort, proving that, despite football being his main profession, golf is much more than just a pastime. He continues to cement his image as a charismatic figure who transitions between sports and entertainment, attracting both golf fans and NFL enthusiasts.
