Carlos Alcaraz, the Spanish tennis prodigy, surprised fans by revealing a new tattoo that celebrates his victory at the Australian Open. The young athlete, who is currently ranked number one in the world, decided to immortalize his achievement with a tattoo of a kangaroo on his left leg. This symbol is not just a piece of body art, but a representation of his triumphant title in Melbourne, which crowned him as the youngest male tennis player to complete a career Grand Slam. During a training session for the Miami Open, the tattoo was partially visible, eliciting enthusiastic reactions from fans and the press.
Alcaraz entered the 2026 Australian Open determined to conquer the only Grand Slam missing from his résumé. And what happened? A spectacular performance that culminated in a four-set victory against Novak Djokovic in the final, an achievement that placed him even more at the center of the sports spotlight.
After winning titles at Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and New York, the Spaniard already had a tradition of marking his victories with symbolic tattoos, and with the kangaroo, he continues this personal practice that connects him to each of his achievements.
Recently, Alcaraz faced a setback as his campaign at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells came to an end in the semifinals, where he was defeated by former world number one Daniil Medvedev. The result was a surprise, especially considering that Alcaraz entered the tournament with an impressive record of 12 wins and no losses this year, having already secured titles in Melbourne and Doha.
After the match, Alcaraz expressed his surprise at Medvedev’s aggressive play, stating: “The way he played aggressively the whole time surprised me a little. I knew he would start aggressively, but the way he did it really surprised me because he didn’t miss any or missed far fewer than I expected. So it was complicated.”
Now, looking ahead to the Miami Open, Alcaraz, as the top seed in the singles main draw, is prepared for his next challenge. He begins his campaign in the second round after receiving a bye in the first. His first opponent will be one of two players, Fabian Marozsan or Joao Fonseca, in the prestigious ATP Masters 1000 competition.
With the kangaroo adorning his leg and a competitive spirit high, Alcaraz is ready to show that his journey in tennis is far from over.
