After another intense week of competition, the world of professional tennis witnessed a significant update in the ATP rankings and the leaders in season prize money. In this vibrant scenario, Carlos Alcaraz, who shone by winning the Qatar Open, reinforced his dominant position, while Tomas Martin Etcheverry excelled by winning the Rio Open. These victories not only brought smiles to the champions but also substantially impacted their bank accounts.

“I’m very happy with this title, it’s always special to win,” stated Alcaraz, who decisively defeated Arthur Fils in the final with a commanding score of 6-1, 6-2. This victory allowed the Spaniard to add over $500,000 to his prize money total, raising his earnings to an impressive $3.3 million in 2026, a figure that gives him a comfortable lead over the second-placed Alex de Minaur, who has accumulated $1.47 million.

On the other hand, De Minaur, who did not compete last week, remains firm in second place, while Novak Djokovic, with $1.43 million, has fallen to third after only participating in the Australian Open, where he was the runner-up.

The list of the top ten remains virtually unchanged, with Alexander Zverev ($1.17 million) and Ben Shelton ($1.05 million) as the only other players to surpass the million-dollar mark in earnings this season. Zverev is scheduled to compete in the Acapulco Open, but even a victory will not guarantee a rise in the rankings, given his current position.

However, the major turnaround of the week came with the impressive rises of Etcheverry, Fils, and Tabilo. Etcheverry, who had an epic performance winning both the semifinal and final on the same day, saw his earnings soar by nearly $440,000, which represents a leap from 32nd to 11th place on the prize money list. “It was an amazing week for me, I will never forget,” commented Etcheverry, clearly emotional about his progress.

Arthur Fils, despite the loss, also had a remarkable performance, climbing to 30th place in annual earnings with $369,000. He expressed, “I am proud of what I achieved, and I will keep fighting.” Tabilo, who had an impressive run to the final, also saw a significant jump, moving to 25th place with $413,000.

In the broader context, the ATP prize money leaders’ ranking so far in 2026 reflects not only the individual performances of the players but also the intensity and competitiveness that characterize this season.

The current prize money leaders for 2026 are:

1. Carlos Alcaraz – $3.3M

2. Alex de Minaur – $1.47M

3. Novak Djokovic – $1.43M

4. Alexander Zverev – $1.17M

5. Ben Shelton – $1.05M

6. Taylor Fritz – $943K

7. Jannik Sinner – $912K

8. Hubert Hurkacz – $887K

9. Félix Auger-Aliassime – $852K

10. Jakub Menšík – $794K

With a calendar full of tournaments in the coming days, there are high expectations for new talents and established players to continue to surprise, as the battle for the top intensifies.
