Jannik Sinner, the young star of Italian tennis, opened up about his recent defeat in the quarter-finals of the ATP 500 in Doha, where he was surprised by the talented Jakub Mensik. The athlete, known for his hard work and determination, emphasized the importance of learning from mistakes and is determined to come back stronger than ever.
“In Doha, I realized that I was slowing down my game a bit, thinking too much about the variations,” Sinner revealed during an interview with Sky Sport. He admitted that this pause in rhythm made a difference and that he is now focused on regaining the intensity that characterizes him. “It can happen, but now we are working to push a little harder,” he stated, expressing optimism for the future.
Preparing for the prestigious Indian Wells tournament, which marks the start of the season’s Masters 1000, Sinner has a clear goal: to win the title and accumulate valuable points, especially after a 2025 in which he was absent due to a Clostebol case. As he takes to the court, he will face an opponent who could be James Duckworth or one of the players coming through the qualifiers, but he is confident in his abilities.
“This is a special tournament, not only because it is the first 1000 of the year, but also because of the beauty of the location. Playing here is challenging, especially due to the wind,” commented Sinner, highlighting the complexity of the playing environment. “I feel in good shape, we have been training hard over the past few weeks and I hope to have a good tournament. I know I can win, but I also know that losing is a possibility. The season is long and there is no reason to worry. Hard work has always brought me success,” he emphasized, with a glint of determination in his eyes.
Jannik Sinner, who continues to surprise the world of tennis, is ready to make his mark at Indian Wells. With a strong mindset and unwavering commitment, he hopes that the tournament will be a springboard for new achievements, further solidifying his position as one of the brightest prospects in the sport.
