Amid the frenetic excitement of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, Alexander Zverev decided to speak out and make a bold observation about the outfits of his competitors, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. During an interaction with the press, the German tennis player did not hesitate to criticize Nike’s kits, referring to them as “colorblind,” meaning they lack harmony and aesthetic sensitivity.

Zverev, who has been a prominent figure for Adidas for over a decade, shared his experience regarding the creative process behind the athletes’ clothing. He revealed that he is actively involved in design decisions, ensuring that his preferences are taken into account. “With Adidas, fortunately, I have my own custom line, so I can express what I like and what I don’t, as well as indicate my preferred colors and combinations,” the tennis player stated.

The athlete added that his collaboration with Adidas has been successful over the years: “We have a partnership of over 10 years, and it’s going very well. It’s a joint effort, but they already know my preferences.” Zverev did not hold back in praising Frances Tiafoe’s Lululemon outfits, highlighting that they are doing an exceptional job.

“I love Frances Tiafoe’s new Lululemon outfits. I think they’re doing really well. I feel like Nike has become a bit ‘colorblind’ lately. I’m not throwing shade, but it’s the truth,” Zverev said, showing that he is not afraid to express his opinions, even if it causes controversy.

In addition to fashion jabs, Zverev also spoke about how accessories can reflect an athlete’s personality. “I think accessories help show who you are. I wear chains, a watch. That’s how I express my personality,” he revealed.

Regarding the competition itself, Zverev, Alcaraz, and Sinner, who are three of the four top seeds in the tournament, secured their places in the quarter-finals. Sinner, undefeated so far, has not lost a set and has victories over opponents such as Joao Fonseca and Denis Shapovalov. Alcaraz and Zverev, on the other hand, faced more significant challenges, needing to win their matches in three sets.

The only one of the four top seeds who did not advance was Novak Djokovic, eliminated by Jack Draper, the defending champion, in a thrilling match in the fourth round. The tournament continues to be an intense battleground, with the best tennis players in the world fighting for a place at the top.
