Javier Tebas does not hesitate to point the finger at Gianni Infantino, stating that the FIFA president should not remain at the helm of the organization. The president of LaLiga expressed on Twitter that, although he considers the withdrawal of the proposal “good news,” it is a grave mistake to think that this closes the issue of governance. “I believe that Gianni Infantino should not continue to lead FIFA. The confederations, associations, leagues, players… should not accept this withdrawal and consider the matter closed. The issue is much deeper,” Tebas stated. He further emphasized that the sport needs new leadership capable of modernizing governance, restoring institutional credibility, and involving all relevant stakeholders in the decision-making process.
Tebas highlighted that the problem goes beyond a specific proposal, pointing to a management model that “concentrates power” and excludes the main protagonists of football. “Withdrawing a proposal does not erase everything that has happened.
