Harvey Elliott is determined to seize the opportunity presented to him by Liverpool's new manager, Andoni Iraola, during pre-season. The young 23-year-old midfielder started both of the team's opening matches on their summer tour of the United States, where Liverpool secured victories against Sunderland and Wrexham. Since joining Liverpool from Fulham in 2019, Elliott has finally managed to integrate into the first-team plans under Jurgen Klopp during the 2022/23 season. However, last season he was loaned to Aston Villa by Arne Slot, who, in the final weeks of the season, chose to leave him out of the squad to avoid triggering a £35 million purchase clause, demonstrating his lack of confidence in the player.

I’ve supported them since I was very young, so the feeling of putting on the shirt and representing the club never goes away. It’s a childhood dream. Every time I put on the shirt, I want to give 100%,” the player stated.
Elliott expressed that the previous season was a quest for new challenges, a desire to step out of his comfort zone. Although he did not race as he had hoped at Aston Villa, he sees this new phase as a “second chance” to impress Iraola and the new coaching staff. “I’m here now and I’m trying to cement my place in the team or within the squad,” he concluded.
