Cameron Young dominates the Cadillac Championship with a crushing victory and claims his third title on the PGA Tour.

In the unforgiving world of professional golf, few players manage to impress with the consistency and versatility that Cameron Young has displayed this season. The 28-year-old Wake Forest University graduate once again proved he is among the elite of the PGA Tour by literally overpowering the competition at the Cadillac Championship, held at Trump Doral National in Miami, securing his third victory on the circuit in just 14 tournaments.

Sahith Theegala, a fellow Tour player and deep admirer of Young’s talent, never tires of praising the almost magical qualities of the American. “He can curve the ball both ways, has impressive distance, and suddenly, he’s one of the best putters in the game,” he confessed to Golfweek. “When I see him practicing at Panther National, sometimes I just stop to watch him, he’s that good.”

These words foreshadowed what would become an absolute dominance at the Cadillac Championship, where Young finished the final round with a solid 4 under par (68), leaving the competition six strokes behind in a display of high-caliber golf. “When the course is tough and the conditions are challenging, I feel mentally more comfortable,” revealed the player, who has seen his technical and mental evolution propel his performance to stratospheric levels.

Young’s transformation is remarkable, especially in his short game. Last season, his weakness in approach shots to the green has been turned into a lethal strength, and this year his iron play has improved drastically. In 2025, Young was outside the top 100 in essential statistics such as Strokes Gained: Approach-the-Green and greens in regulation, but by 2026 he is already positioned within the top 20 in these indicators, including an impressive second place in proximity to the hole. The key? A decisive change in his golf ball, adopting the Titleist Pro V1x prototype (Double Dot), which has given him superior distance control with his irons and wedges.

The journey to victory began in the first round, where Young made an impressive 8 under par (64), without making any bogeys and with nearly 30 feet of putts made. “I felt like I made a billion feet in putts, and that helps on any course,” he said, highlighting his precision and calmness in crucial moments. Throughout the week, he was among the best at gaining strokes with the putter, making the putts that “you expect to make” and a few extra from 4 to 9 meters, which provided extra mental comfort.

Despite sharing the final group with world number one Scottie Scheffler, Young maintained his composure, even when he had to impose a penalty on himself for an uncertain ball movement on the second hole, a rare gesture that demonstrates his integrity and focus. Under morning rain that softened the course and with preferred lie rules in place, Young extended his lead to seven strokes before heading into the final holes, showing an almost irritating patience, in the words of commentator Frank Nobilo.

The mental dimension has been the final ingredient for Young’s success, who, despite appearing calm on the outside, has admitted to struggling with his own mind at earlier stages of his career. “The next shot is the next battle, not the last one,” explained his mental coach, Dr. Bhrett McCabe, emphasizing the philosophy that has helped Young maintain focus and confidence.

On Sunday, with former President Donald Trump present at the club, Cameron Young delivered a resilient performance, overcoming minor slips with strategic birdies and securing victory with a total of 19 under par (269 strokes). Scottie Scheffler, despite finishing second for the third consecutive time, acknowledged his opponent’s dominance: “He played fantastic golf all week, hitting a lot of good shots and making putts from anywhere. He was a tough opponent to beat.”

The speed at which Young has accumulated victories is remarkable: he needed 93 tournaments to secure his first win, 10 for his second, and just 3 for his third, placing him on an upward trajectory and establishing him as one of the most exciting and unpredictable players at the moment.

“This was not his ‘A game,’ and that’s the scary part,” commented Nobilo, highlighting the enormous potential Young still has to explore.

Cameron Young is not just a name to watch in world golf — he is an unstoppable force poised to revolutionize the game and leave an indelible mark on the PGA Tour.
