Nelly Korda, the rising star of world golf, demonstrates that even during periods of competitive absence, humility and reflection are crucial for her growth. The player, currently ranked number 2 in the world, took a break from her career by not participating in the 2026 HSBC Women’s World Championship, but she remained active on social media, sharing an honest and revealing update from the golf course.
On February 28, Korda shared a story on Instagram, captured from inside her car, shortly after completing a round that did not go as she had hoped. Although she chose not to disclose where she played or who she was with, her message was clear and resonated with many fans of the sport. “Does anyone else sit in their car for 10 minutes after a humiliating golf session?… Me too,” Korda wrote, a statement that illustrates the pressure and challenges even the best players face.
Korda’s decision to adopt a lighter schedule this season is a deliberate strategy. After an exhausting 2025, where she participated in 21 events, the golfer stated that she intends to limit her appearances to about 18 to 20 tournaments, aiming to protect her body and avoid burnout. “I like to play a maximum of three consecutive tournaments. I won’t do four in a row. I’ve seen my body deteriorate because of that, and I enter a zone of potential injury,” the athlete said last year.
Despite a reduced start to the season, Korda made an impressive debut in 2026, winning the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions with a score of 13 under par, which remains her only appearance this year so far. But when can we expect to see Nelly Korda back in competition?
Although she has not fully revealed her schedule, she has already confirmed two appearances in the United States. She is scheduled to return for the Fortinet Founders Cup in Menlo Park, California, and then will compete in the Ford Championship in Chandler, Arizona, the following week. Currently, the LPGA Tour is in the midst of competitions in Asia, from which Korda has been absent, but she plans to resume her activities as soon as the circuit returns to the United States.
Her schedule so far mirrors that of last season. In 2025, Korda also started the year with a victory at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, followed by a tie for seventh place at the Founders Cup and a tie for 22nd place at the Ford Championship.
Looking to the future, Korda has already confirmed her participation in the MÉXICO Riviera Maya Open, which will take place from April 30 to May 3 at the El Camaleón Golf Course. This will be her first tournament on the LPGA in Mexico and will feature big names such as Lydia Ko, along with Mexican players Gaby López, Isabella Fierro, and María Fassi.
After a dominant 2024 season, where she won seven titles, including four consecutive ones, Korda saw 2025 become a year without victories. However, the resilience and determination she has shown throughout her career promise a triumphant return, and fans are eagerly awaiting to see her shine again on the greens.
