Real MadridJosé Mourinho is the Savior for the Bernabéu
Real Madrid is experiencing one of the most turbulent moments in its recent history. Internal conflicts, public confrontations, and a leadership crisis threaten the stability of the Merengue club, which sees its hegemony in Spain being crushed by rival Barcelona. At the center of this storm is the possible return of José Mourinho, the coach who previously led the club from 2010 to 2013, but who now faces serious doubts regarding his ability to restore peace and glory at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Jorge Valdano, former coach and director of Real Madrid, does not hide his skepticism regarding the return of the Special One. In exclusive statements to Movistar, Valdano warns of the challenges that Mourinho will face: “I believe he will arrive with his most charming face. At first, everything will be very calm and I think the players will respond. I suppose the pre-season will be a bit more demanding and that will help with the team’s performance. But we will see what happens over time and when the defeats come, whether peace will be possible or if we will continue with this somewhat disruptive situation we have been experiencing this season.”
The current crisis at Real Madrid is deep and multifaceted. Recently, coach Álvaro Arbeloa and star player Kylian Mbappé exchanged barbs in public, while midfielders Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde became involved in an altercation during training that left Valverde hospitalized. To exacerbate the instability, president Florentino Pérez has called for early presidential elections, a clear sign that the club is on a collision course.
Despite the chaotic scenario, Valdano remains convinced that Florentino Pérez will not part with his most valuable players. When questioned about rumors suggesting the departure of stars such as Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior, the former Argentine official was categorical: “Within Florentino Pérez’s project, which sees football as a business of heroes, he will not sell the heroes. That is certain.”
However, Valdano warns that simply hiring Mourinho will not be enough to resolve the deep-seated problems at Real Madrid. “Mourinho cannot solve this alone,” he states, emphasizing the need for a profound restructuring at the club to overcome the critical moment.
In the meantime, Mourinho is preparing to sign a two-year contract with Real Madrid, taking on the difficult task of rebuilding a fragmented team and restoring authority in a dressing room that is on the brink of civil war. The arrival of the Portuguese coach may initially bring a breath of fresh air, but the true test will be his ability to manage the inevitable crises and maintain unity both on and off the pitch.
The season ended without a single title for Real Madrid, as Barcelona consolidated its dominance in Spanish football. Now, the Bernabéu hopes that Mourinho, with his explosive temperament and proven experience, can turn the tide. It remains to be seen whether the Special One will truly be the peacemaker that the Madrid giant so desperately needs, or if his arrival will only deepen internal divisions, leading the club into a new era of instability. The answer begins to be written in the upcoming pre-season.
