So, I don’t think he slept much on Saturday night, because I’m sure he stayed up watching all of that.”
The impact of social media on a young athlete’s career is undeniable, and Rooney emphasizes that the pressure is different now compared to his time. “In my day, there were no social media. It was all about the newspapers, and you could like it or not – it was front page and back page. I believe the pressure isn’t as intense on him as it was on me,” he said.
However, Rooney praised Dowman’s attitude, noting that he seems to handle pressure well. “From what I’ve seen in the games, he doesn’t let the pressure affect him. He receives the ball, keeps it, commits defenders, and goes for the dribble, showing remarkable confidence,” he commented. “Mikel Arteta and the experienced players at Arsenal won’t let him get too comfortable, but it’s also important that he enjoys the moment.”
