Chelsea has decided to secure the future of Jesse Derry, one of English football's brightest prospects, by extending his contract for a long period to fend off interest from giants like Bayern Munich and Juventus. The young winger, who carries enormous expectations, will now be loaned to Sporting, in a move that highlights the strong relationship between the two clubs, evidenced by the recent transfers of Quenda and Essugo to Stamford Bridge. In Derry's case, the loan will be made without any option to buy, underscoring Chelsea's commitment and confidence in the player's potential.

With this arrival, Sporting finds an immediate solution for the left side of the attack, following the departure of Faye, who is no longer part of coach Rui Borges' plans, and the likely farewell of Pedro Gonçalves, who is attracting international interest. In this way, the lions fill an important gap in the squad while providing Derry with a competitive environment of excellence, internationally recognized as one of the best training centers in Europe.

According to gathered information, the young English international, just 19 years old, is set to join the Sporting CP delegation heading to Lagos, in the Algarve, where the pre-season training camp will take place. The objective is clear: to facilitate the swift integration of the winger into the group's routines and accelerate his adaptation process to Portuguese football.

Born on June 30, 2007, in Harrogate, Jesse Derry is the son of Shaun Derry, a former player for Crystal Palace, Leeds, and Queens Park Rangers. He began his football journey at the age of five at the Crystal Palace academy and stood out in the 2023/2024 season as the club's best player in the under-18 category, scoring 16 goals in 22 matches. Last summer, he transferred to Chelsea, signing a four-year contract, and quickly made his mark in the England under-17, under-18, and under-19 teams. In the under-19 European Championship, he scored two goals, despite his team's early elimination.

Derry can play on both wings or as an attacking midfielder, thanks to his ambidexterity and versatility. His performances in the youth ranks of the Blues earned him calls to the first team, having played the first 45 minutes against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League and also participated in FA Cup matches against Wrexham and Hull City. His debut for the Chelsea first team was marked by a scare after a head collision with Abbott from Nottingham Forest, which required the young player to be hospitalized.

Jesse Derry's entry into Sporting promises to shake up the Lions' squad and could become one of the great stories of the season, with fans eager to see how far this new international signing from Alvalade can go.
